Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif may have parted ways after being together for six years but their fans don’t seem to get tired of them. According to reports in the media, Sallu and Kat have won the top spot in the list of the most downloaded celebrities for the year 2010. This means that the Indians love downloading pictures of Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan on their mobile phones and through internet services.

The survey was conducted in the recent past taking into consideration 25 million wallpapers and images of various Bollywood celebrities that were downloaded throughout the running year. And it was Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif pictures that formed the maximum part of the 25 million downloaded images.

The strange thing is that Salman Khan has surpassed even Shah Rukh Khan in the most downloaded celebrity list. Following Salman Khan and SRK are younger actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and Shahid Kapoor. On the other hand, Katrina Kaif’s pretty face was preferred to other Bollywood actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and even Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The list makes clear the fact that it is not only their box office ratings that affect the people’s choice when it comes to downloading their favorite celebrity’s pictures.

It's 'Tees Maar Khan' vs 'Toonpur Ka Superhero' this Friday

New Delhi, Dec 20: Film buffs are in for a treat this Christmas as choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan's highly anticipated film "Tees Maar Khan", starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, hits the silver screen along with Ajay Devgn's animation film "Toonpur Ka Superhero" this Friday.

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya also returns with his new film "Isi Life Mein" with debutants Sandeepa Dhar and Akshay Oberoi.

"Tees Maar Khan", produced by Twinkle Khanna, Shirish Kunder and Ronnie Screwvala with a budget of Rs.50 crore (USD 11 million), is a story about Tabrez Mirza Khan (Akshay) who steals, cons and cheats with such an audacity that none even gets the slightest hint about his deeds. His gang members include three others named Dollar, Soda and Burger.

International antique smugglers Johri Brothers (Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman) ask Tabrez once to perform the biggest heist of his life. They ask him to steal antiques worth Rs.500 crore from a heavily guarded moving train.

The film's music is already a rage, with Katrina making fans groove to her item song "Sheila Ki Jawani".

The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Raghu Ram, Rajiv Laxman, Arya Babbar and Aman Verma. It also has special appearences by Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.

"Toonpur Ka Superhero", featuring Ajay Devgn and Kajol, would be India's first live action-animation film. It is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Krishika Lulla and distributed by Eros International.

Directed by Kireet Khurana, the film tells the story of film star Aditya (Ajay) who has all the success he ever dreamt of. He is married to Priya (Kajol) and has two kids Kabeer and Raima. He might be a superstar but his children want him to be hero in real life rather than in reel.

Aditya gets one such opportunity when he finds himself in Toonpur, the land of his children's favourite cartoons
, where he has to fight Toonasurs (demon toons) to save Devtoons (good toons).

The film also stars Tanuja, Mukesh Tiwari, Sanjay Mishra and Delnaaz Paul. Khurana has won five National Awards for short animation films and has directed almost 400 commercials and "Toonpur Ka Superhero" is his first feature film.

While Ajay and Kajol team up for this film after two years, it also reunited the mother-daughter duo of Kajol and Tanuja 18 years after "Bekhudi", which was the launch vehicle for Kajol in the film industry.

After his last film "Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi", Sooraj Barjatya is returning with his new production venture "Isi Life Mein" with two newcomers Sandeepa and Akshay, who is actor Vivek Oberoi's cousin.

Produced under Rajshri Productions and directed by Vidhi Kasliwal, Barjatya's niece, the story of the film revolves around the journey of a small town girl Rajnandini, who is not allowed to dream and lead a life according to her own wishes.

Somehow she takes admission to a Mumbai college and meets Vivaan and his gang of friends, who make her believe that she has the right and the capability to accomplish her dreams. It's then that things start changing for her.

Whether Christmas will set cash registers ringing for all three of these films is yet to be seen.

Sheila Ki Jawani, now a C-grade film

Kanti Shah, who is known as the king of C-grade films in Bollywood, has an interesting one up his sleeve this time. Instead of using double entendres, Shah has used Katrina Kaif’s current sizzling chartbuster Sheila Ki Jawani as the title of his film.

The announcement on Shah’s film was used as an advertisement in a trade magazine recently. Kumar Mohan, the editor of the magazine, recalls, “When Kanti Shah came to me with the advertisement I laughed and told him that I knew he was capable of making the most of such ideas. These films are made on a shoestring budget of around Rs 25 lakh.”

Shah admits, “The day the song became a hit I decided to make the film. I finished shooting within 12 days.”
Shah insists his film is original and says, “I have only borrowed the first line of the song.” But interestingly, Shah’s wife Sapna, the protagonist in his film, plays a small-time heroine, much like Katrina, in the film.

Despite the grey areas, Shah wants to time the release of his film with Tees Maar Khan. He says, “I am working towards releasing the film on December 24. If I miss that I will surely release it in January 2011.” Are you fine with that Farah?

She adds that she's roughing it out. "The place we're staying in is very basic. There're no luxury hotels here. I enjoy the austerity. I think we actors are much too pampered."

Apparently, Katrina's co-stars Imran Khan and Ali Zafar from 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' and producer Aditya Chopra are too quite busy looking after her.

Katrina finds the boys, "Very sweet. Knowing that shooting in a place where things can get uncomfortable they keep an eye on me and especially on the people who show up at the shoot and the hotel. Prospective grooms would have to be screened by my two vigilant co-stars."

Actress Katrina Kaif has rubbished stories of a rivalry with Bollywood colleague Aishwarya Rai.

Bollywood's most looked upon couple, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, have survived an ordeal of controversies in the tinsel town every now and then. Recently, rumors were hot that Aish had stopped Abhi from acting opposite Katrina in 'Dostana 2'.

Adding a new twist in the story, buzz has it that Aish has recommended Katrina to director-producer Vipul Shah for his next venture 'The Italian Job' opposite Abhishek, hence putting an end to whispers of animosity between the two actors.

Talking to a news daily, a source said, "Vipul's first option was to cast Abhishek and Aishwarya. It was Aishwarya who prompted Vipul to cast Katrina instead."

Katrina also confirmed that she has no issues working with Abhishek either. "All these ridiculous rumours about me not working with Abhishek started when my dates for 'The Italian Job' didn't work out, and 'Dostana 2' got postponed. Abhishek is a great guy.

I did 'Sarkar' with him at the start of my career. There were other offers but I felt they were not good enough to do justice to our pairing. I decided that whenever we work together again, it would be for a full-blown romantic comedy."

Katrina Kaif injured – bloody nose returns

Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif recently ended up with a bloody nose when she got injured on the sets of YRF’s unnamed flick at the Pataudi Palace in Haryana.

Apparently, Katrina was injured on the same place where she had been previously injured during the making of ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ when Ranbir inadvertently landed a blow on her face. Well, this time around, Katrina got injured due to error of judgement on Imran’s part.

Talking to a news daily, a source from the sets of YRF said, “They were shooting a funny scene in which Imran is holding a gun in his hand and Katrina is by his side. He had to move around and pull Kat toward him with the other hand. But while shooting, he accidentally smashed the barrel of his gun on Katrina`s nose. It happened in a split second and her nose started bleeding.”

“Everyone panicked because there was blood oozing from her nose. The shooting stopped and she was escorted to the vanity van. A doctor was called on the set and she was administered first aid. After a while the bleeding stopped, but she was still in pain,” said the source.

When contacted, Katrina confirmed the reports and said, “Yes, I got hit in the same place as I did during ‘Ajab…’. I am pretty bruised but the staff feels its good luck for the film. But it was a funny scene so I think it was worth it.”

I suggested we oblige. And Salman agreed without a second's hesitation," says Farah, insisting there were no cold vibes between Katrina and him during the shoot. "They were very chilled out and no different from how they had been five years ago.

The song has Akshay and Salman fighting over Katrina, but the duo was like a pair of schoolboys let loose on a night out. They took off with each other and in the middle of a shot, suddenly, whipped off their scarves and broke into Salman's trademark 'towel' dance from Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) that Farah had choreographed too. The qawwali, Walla, walla... has Katrina in a coy Pakeezah-style avatar. Earlier, for her introductory song, Sheila ki jawaani..., Farah had put the actor through rigorous belly dance rehearsals for two weeks, then given her a sexy makeover with six costume changes of half saris and knotted cholis.

"Since Katrina is playing an item girl and a wannabe movie star, it was the right beginning for her and the song was picturised over five days with Moulin Rouge-like aerial shots. Sheila ki jawaani... will be as big a craze as six-pack SRK's Dard-e-disco� was" promises Farah.

But Katrina says that it will be a bigger hit than Munni badnaam hui... "She was misquoted," retorts Farah, who's choreographed the Dabangg chartbuster that completed her hattrick of hits with Malaika Arora Khan after Chhaiya chhaiya... and Kaal dhamaal... "I'm thrilled for Arbaaz (Khan), Malaika and Salman that Munni... is such a rage, I'd never try to be one-up on my friends."

The sensual Sheila is all covered up in the qawwali and Farah insists she's still hot. "The song is a favourite with one of my daughters, the other adores Sheila ki jawaani... My son is hooked on the James Bond-like title track that his dad (co-producer Shrish Kunder) composed," she smiles. "If you want to see my babies, see Tees Maar Khan, they appear in the end credits. They're already saying, 'Action' and 'Cut'. By the time they're six, they will be making their own movies."

Tees Maar Khan is 2010's big Christmas attraction. "Aamir's (Khan) last three hits, Taare Zameen Par (2007), Ghajini (2008) and 3 Idiots (2009), opened in December. I thank him for leaving this Christmas for me," says Farah, who's now looking forward to waking up late. "I'd envy Shirish when I was rushing out at 6 am. Now, with two films as director, Kick and Joker, it's his turn to wake up early. I'll laze in bed till 9, then play producer on the sets."

Look who is flying high these days and quite literally so? Well! None other than Katrina Kaif. No we are not trying to track her Bollywood career; in fact the lady is the newly appointed brand ambassador of, not a beauty product, but the ultra luxurious Etihad Airways. After Preity Zinta who was once promoting Go Airways, Katrina has just stepped up and gone international. And how?

She has shot not only a photo shoot but a rather interesting commercial to promote the airlines. And guess who choreographed it? It was none other than Katrina's Tees Maar Khan director and choreographer Farah Khan who made the actress do quite a lot of latka jhatkas for an airline advertisement. Far from any traditional advertisement, this one would see Katrina doing a bit of a Bollywood dancing along with fellow passenger to promote the motto of the airline that states, "It feels good to fly with the best."

The photo shoot of Etihad makes Katrina look even prettier as she lays down in luxury and enjoys the hospitality all in the name of brand promotion. Farah Khan believes in keeping her artistes happy. She promised her Tees Maar Khan heroine, Katrina Kaif a special treat if she managed to maintain a slender waist for her raunchy number, Sheila Ki Jawani. Yesterday, Khan fulfilled Kat's craving to have Cinnabons.

Says the director, "Katrina has worked extremely hard on the song Sheila Ki Jawani over the last couple of weeks. I had told her I'd give her whatever treat she wanted after the song was done. She wanted Cinnabons so yesterday I got three dozen in assorted flavours on the sets after we packed up. The day before wrap-up, she finished shooting for the song, went for a press endorsement in the evening and then went to the gym at midnight and worked out."

Farah is impressed with Kat's professionalism and dedication. "She had to wear a low waisted, half-saree for the song so for the last two weeks she cut down on carbohydrates, didn't have any sweets, went to the gym regularly and followed a strict diet. She did whatever I told her to do. Now that the song is over, the poor girl can eat to her heart's content. Her performance in this song is going to shock people."

Incidentally, Shahrukh had gone on a diet and almost starved for Om Shanti Om and Dard-e-Disco. A defensive Farah states, "I don't ask my stars to starve. I just tell them that this is what you have to look like and these are your costume references. Like Madhuri Dixit will be remembered for Ek Do Teen, Kat will be remembered for Sheila Ki Jawani. She's looking her best! It is like a tribute to Jumma Chumma from Hum. Akshay is also in the song."

Katrina says, "After pack up, we had a feast (she ate three Cinnabons). I love Cinnabons so I asked Farah if I could have some after the song got over. I have been training with Yasmin Karachiwala for the last 13 days to tone down for the song. We trained on Tuesday night at 12 am. It's not so much about losing weight as toning the abs and body. I have been on a controlled diet which consists mainly of fruit, fish and porridge."
